The construction of MesseCity Köln is making further progress: Motel One Group and Adina Apartment Hotels have signed long-term leases for the two planned hotels of the city quarter in the Messe district of Köln-Deutz, which are being developed by ECE and ECE und STRABAG Real Estate (SRE). The Motel One will comprise 300 rooms and the Adina Apartment hotel will comprise 170 studios and apartments. Construction start for the hotel has been scheduled for 2018, completion for 2020.
The hotel building comprises a seven-story property in the center of MesseCity Köln, directly at the so-called “Messebalkon”, the passage to koelnmesse.
The fourth building in the western part of the project area will be built according to a facade design by gmp architectural office that won the architectural competition along with three other offices at the beginning of 2016. Due to excellent traffic connections, the future guests of the Motel One and Adina Apartment hotel will benefit from the location.
For the project partners ECE and SRE, the concluded leases for the hotels mark another important milestone in the marketing for MesseCity Köln. Zurich insurance group had already signed a lease for three properties with an office space of 60,000 m² in the western part of the area for approximately 2,700 employees.
ECE and SRE will develop a new vibrant mixed-use city quarter in six properties comprising a gross floor area of 135,000 m², which will feature offices, hotels, restaurants, small retail businesses, and leisure facilities. It is located on the bank of the Rhine between the trade fair entrance South and ICE railway station Köln-Deutz. Furthermore, 1,000 parking spaces will be created in two separate underground parking garages. The two project partners will invest a total amount of 750 million euros into the project.
